We build apps that know what they're looking at.

An independent studio shipping focused consumer apps — camera-first identification tools, the search content that makes them findable, and the automation that lets two people run a portfolio.

What we build

Small products.
Sharp focus. Real utility.

We don't build everything — we build one thing per product and we build it properly. Point a camera at the world and get an answer. Then the unglamorous half: the content, the pipelines and the tooling that let a two-person studio ship like a bigger one.

AI identification

Camera-first apps that recognize birds, rocks and minerals — an answer in seconds, wrapped in an interface anyone can use.

Print books

We also publish print puzzle and activity books — six titles and counting.

Tools that run the studio

Our own operations dashboard: plans, proofs, approvals and spend, in one place. We use it every day before anyone else sees it.

Selected work

Shipped, not mocked up.

Everything below is live — real listings, real pages, real screens.

Aviarist — feature graphic from Google Play

Aviarist

Live on Google Play

Point, shoot, and know the bird. Aviarist identifies a species from a photo in seconds, shows the field marks that justify the call, and keeps a life list that grows with every walk. Behind it sits a 309-species reference guide that brings birders in from search and hands them the app.

Mineralyst — feature graphic from Google Play

Mineralyst

Live on Google Play

A pocket geologist. Photograph any rock, mineral or crystal and Mineralyst tells you what you're holding — hardness, formula, how it forms — then helps you build a collection worth showing off. Its 246-specimen reference index doubles as the front door from search.

Agents dashboard

Internal, in daily use

The studio runs on this. Every project carries a plan with milestones, so progress is counted from declared steps rather than guessed at from activity. Work that needs a decision arrives as a proof with real approve and send-back controls, and an approval automatically starts whoever owns the next step. Questions queue as answerable options instead of open-ended asks, image spend is metered against a cap before it is committed, and nothing reports success it cannot prove.

How we work

The Yellow8 playbook.

Find a real itch

We build for moments people actually have — "what bird is that?", "what rock is this?", "I can't get out of bed."

Build the core in weeks

One feature, done end to end. No bloated roadmap — a working app in your hand fast.

Measure before you believe it

Checks that can't fail aren't checks. We reinstate the bug and watch the test go red before we trust it.

Automate the second time

Anything done twice becomes a script with a number attached, so it still holds when nobody remembers why.

Built for growth

We don't just ship apps — we build engines.

Every launch comes with the unglamorous work that makes a product get found: store listings, search content, and web foundations that keep compounding long after release day.

Store optimization

Listings built around real search terms — titles, descriptions, feature graphics and screenshot sets designed to rank in Play search and convert the tap.

Aviarist species library

309 bird species, each its own landing page — pulling birders in from Google and funneling them straight into the app.

Mineralyst rock index

246 rocks, minerals, gemstones and fossils with dedicated pages. Collectors search for a stone, land on an answer, and leave with the app.

Compounding, not renting

No paid-install treadmill. Content, keywords and listings are assets we own — they keep working while we build the next thing.
